Jane Martindale Schafer
@ Eight Pines Art
Learning to paint was on my bucket list after I retired in 2012. Like so many, I always enjoyed drawing and painting, but never had the time to devote serious effort to develop my talents. I have benefitted from many talented workshop instructors. Life is a sequence of recreating oneself. Now I am happily a painter.
I am a semi-realistic representational artist, with strong post impressionistic influences. I paint with both acrylics and watercolor, depending on what best suits the subject. I especially like to explore new ways of creating texture and using colors in unexpected ways.
I paint what interests me: from pets and animals, to the landscapes of my travels in Europe, and my local surroundings. I paint a lot from photos. My greatest joy is when I bring a photo to life with new textures, unexpected colors, and different perspectives. When I can share a new way of seeing, and feel that others find beauty in that, I know I have succeeded.
